Encounters is an ongoing personal project. A friend approached me looking for a book design that could be printed to a small quantity. This project involved researching styles that are intriguing yet subtle.
The main theme of the stories is romance contrasted with the harsh realities of life and death. For this project I used a grid system and margin that is both on trend and easy to follow. The illustration style is inspired by comic book line art, it’s also an extension to my own personal illustration style. The typefaces used are Auger Mono and Tenon, both hail from Signal Type Foundry. I chose these typefaces as they contrast well with each other creating a sense depth that accuratley represents the short stories. The Illustrations are featured at the start of every story and give the viewer a glimpse of what they are about to read.
